JOB DESCRIPTION: Band Teacher and/or Early Elementary Music Teacher 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 
Job summary: Classroom teachers are expected to utilize appropriate learning methods to facilitate desired learning outcomes and are responsible for the implementation of their specific subject / grade level curriculum. They should be able to support the student in mastery of the curriculum while integrating a Christian worldview and Biblical principles throughout their academic instruction. 
 
Hired by: Grade-level Principal and Head of School 
Reports to: Grade-level Principal 
Annual evaluation provided in accordance with the provisions of the Rosehill Christian School’s policies on Teacher Observation and Evaluation. 
 
Type of position: This is a contracted, professional, exempt employee that is paid on an annualized salaried basis. 
SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION 
Job summary: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a K-12 band/music learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Ability to integrate and articulate a clear Biblical worldview. Other teaching responsibilities could be assigned based on need and experience. Texas teaching certification or equivalent required.
 
 QUALIFICATIONS: The teacher shall ... 
? have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 
? hold a minimum of a Bachelor degree from a recognized college or university. 
? hold or be able to obtain State certification for the teaching field(s), unless this requirement is specifically waived or postponed by the administration during the hiring process. 
? have the leadership abilities to "train up a child in the way he should go.” 
? shall be a member in good standing of an evangelical church. 
? shall lead a mature Christian life. 
? shall reflect the purpose of the school to honor Christ in every class and every activity. 
? have a call to teach in a Christian school and at RCS in particular.  
? demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy, having a basic proficiency in word processing, creating and using a spreadsheet, e-mailing, and accessing the Internet. 
? possess evidence of adequate preparation, background, and/or experience as determined by the Grade-level Principal and Head of School. 
? be willing to continue formal and informal professional development while employed. 
? lead a lifestyle compatible with RCS standards and policies. 
? exhibit such other qualifications as may additionally be required by the Board.
