The Jerry Matheson Children?s Playground Refurbishing Project
The Jerry Matheson Children’s Playground Refurbishing Project
The Children’s Playground in Jerry Matheson Park was a Tomball Rotary project completed in 1998.
With the assistance of Learning Structures, the project was organized by the Tomball Rotary Club, but was a community wide project. Other organizations, such as the Tomball Lions Club, Tomball Police Association, and the Knights of Columbus as well as many Tomball businesses and citizens participated both in funding and construction of the playground. The project was organized in such away that it was built in a day.
The playground consists of 30 wooden structures, several of which reflect the economic history of Tomball, such as the oil derrick, train engine, tractor, etc.
Though the playground has been well maintained over the years, but the time has come for a major refurbishment. The Tomball Rotary Club is sponsoring a refurbishing project on May 18 and May 19, 2012. No special skills are needed in order to participate.
Any one who is interested in contributing to or participating in this project, please contact Tomball Rotary at (832) 534-0816 and leave a message or e-mail Tomball Rotary Club at tomballrotary@gmail.com. One of our members will contact you with additional information.
