Gulf Coast Chapter ? National Railroad Historical Society - Meeting
Great Railroad Chases and Rides
Gulf Coast Chapter – National Railroad Historical Society, Inc.
Individuals interested in the history of trains and railroading are invited to attend the Gulf Coast Chapter – National Railroad Historical Society, Inc. February membership meeting. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at Lupe Tortillas, 1511 N. Shepherd, Houston at 7:30 pm. After a short business meeting there will be a program by Jerry Dorcz showing some great chases and rides he has experienced during past National Railroad Historical Society Conventions plus other trackside events and shots he has videotaped over the years. Join us. You won’t see nor hear the trains if you are not there!
The mission of the Chapter is to preserve, enjoy and share with the public the memory, history and experience of railroading – particularly Texas railroading, as it has been and as it is now. The organization has been supporting the study of local railroad history and collecting vintage railroad equipment and other artifacts for 50 years, operating the Houston Railroad museum for over 40 years. The collection contains 17 railcars, most of which have significant Texas Heritage and many other artifacts related to railroading, including a model railroad and research library.
This is an exciting time for the Museum which is currently closed due to the process of relocating. Join with other Chapter members and be involved in development of the new location and future of the museum.
