Be Tomball Ready Monthly Lunch Presentation
Personal crime seems to be creeping into places that are usually thought of as safe havens. The Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce’s Be Tomball Ready (BTR) committee is offering the public an opportunity to learn safety strategies while having fun.
At the BTR meeting on Thursday, May 19, Richard Bloom, crime deterrent specialist, author, speaker and trainer, will provide tips on how to avoid becoming a victim, how to be street smart, and how to handle an attack.
“My goal is to instruct – never frighten,” said Bloom. “This program is packed with personal safety advice, presented in a fun, entertaining format. We often hear reports of violence taking place at or near the workplace, and much of the time in broad daylight. I teach how to be prepared whether you’re in town, at work or traveling on business. Each person attending will receive a free copy of my book, "Keeping Kids Safe" endorsed by the Texas Attorney Generals office as one of the best on the subject."

Previous BTR programs include FBI presentations on human trafficking, cyber-crime, internet security, prevention of identity theft, personal safety, business crime, strategies for reducing online banking risk, Red Cross information, recovery case studies from a business disaster expert, a representative from the Virus Doctor, a panel of computer experts, presentations by the Harris County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and representatives from the Tomball Regional Medical Center, Fire Department and Police Department.
