Summer Chess Camp with The Houston Chess League

This camp is for students entering kindergarten through 12th grade. All skill levels are welcome from learning how the pieces move to experienced tournament players to join us for this week of Chess. We will be working on Openings, Middlegame strategies, powerful tactics, common Endgame positions, avoiding blunders, how to handle the clock, concentration exercises, thinking techniques, and much more! On Friday, we will take our knowledge and experience from the week and host a super tournament for all the campers! Monday - Thursday Schedule of Events: 7:30am – 8:00am: Chess Camper Check-In 8:00am – 9:00am: Chess Class #1 9:00am – 10:00am: Snack / Recess Break 10:00am – 11:00am: Chess Class #2 11:00am – 12:00pm: Lunch Break & Recess Please bring your own sack-lunch with you each day 12:00pm – 1:00pm: Chess Class #3 1:00pm – 2:00pm: Snack / Recess Break 2:00pm – 4:00pm: Red vs. Blue Chess Battles 4:00pm – 5:00pm: Fun Team Games 5:00pm – 5:30pm: Chess Camper Check-Out Campers will be grouped according to age and skill level! Friday - Rapid Chess Tournament (Non-USCF Event) Open to all participating campers. (5)Rounds - SWISS System; Game 30mins/30mins Pizza Lunch & Drinks Included in Tuition Pizza Choices: Cheese, Pepperoni Drink Choices: Bottled Water, Lemonade Our Concession Stand will be available on site for other snacks and drinks.
