SUMMARY:Honorary Four Chaplains' February Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Veterans\, Legionnaires and supporters will join together this February 19 at 7:00pm at the South County Community Center for the annual memoriam of the WWII Immortal Chaplains. During WWII\, one the most heroic generations of our time\, there were four Army Chaplains who sacrificed themselves in the face of tragedy. This month Legionnaires honor four soldiers who gave their lives to save GI's and civilian officials during the sinking of troopship USAT Dorchester on February 3\, 1943. Four joined arms prayed and sang hymns as they safely boarded fellow soldiers onto lifeboats while they sank with the Dorchester. These men of God were Father John R. Washington\, Reverend George L. Fox\, Rabbi Alexander D Goode and Reverend Clark V. Poling. Their honorary ceremony will take place on February 19 at 7:00pm\, hosted by Commander Pete Koch. The Woodlands American Legion Post 305 invites veterans and interested parties to attend meetings. For those who qualify\, The American Legion welcomes you to become more involved through membership support. For more information\, call 936-900-8852 or email petekoch76@gmail.com.
